Week 2 of Castlemilk Porridge & Play!!
Wednesday 16th March
In a Haunted House with cobwebs, and maybe even some spiders but no ghosts, lived three Grannies: Granny Arwa, Granny Hadir and Granny Mosaab. Granny Summer was just visiting.
Grannies Emma, Levi and Jared lived in a tree house and in their garden they grew all types of veg and in their orchard they had bananas and strawberries and even blueberries. However their favourite breakfast was still corn flakes!
Granny Bunny and Granny Areeb lived in a mansion by the trees at the bottom of their garden, the ones at the edge of the Deep Deep Forest. But the trees, the tress hold a secret! They turn into slowly creeping MONSTERS when the Grannies are not looking!
The Castlemilk Hub pals dressed up with terrific gusto! They strutted their stuff about and made themselves into mysterious looking trees that turned into monsters when the intrepid Grannies were busy cooking breakfast…We had the Desire Bush and the Pemi Tree, the Ife, Nicola and Michelle Trees were mysterious and funny! The Catherine and Freya trees crept about so slowly and the Eshal and Ayra trees were never caught!
Intrepid means fearless or adventurous!
Some of our favourite moments at the Porridge & Play Castlemilk…
‘Monster trees from Monsters Footsteps and these are purple poisonous branches. This is outside the house and my Mum is done inside the house. Fav game was Monsters Footsteps cause I like monsters.’
‘ Inside the house is Fred with jelly on his head and he looks a bit upset cause he can hear the poisonous trees outside. I enjoyed being a Granny.’
‘Grandma and the house, mysterious trees. Grandma is terrified she’s scared of the trees.’
‘My name, my back and my head.’
‘A circle but is a cat, a rainbow. Fred with Jelly on his head and Clare with bananas in her hair. Summer’s fav game was drawing.’
‘Jelly on his head, Donuts on his eyes. Big as a Bear, so here is the bear, the cat, and the bird. And the angry rhino from Funky Chicken. Fav game was Funky Chicken.’
‘A Christmas tree because it is the best time I ever have. Makes her happy to play like this, like Christmas (makes her happy).’
‘Me, my brother, my Mum and my Dad on the rainbow, the clouds. We are going for a walk on the rainbow to the rainbowy park with lots of colours, It is far away!’
One Big Collaboration!
This week’s soup went down a storm and everyone had a wee chat about it at the table. We also got into our circle and we loved it because we could see everyone and everyone could see us!
We met Fred with Jelly On His Head and all his friends who wear peculiar things on their heads when getting ready for bed. We also sang the story of Joe and his busy schedule at the Button factory.
The Gallery was fantastic with some artist sharing not one but two drawings. Fiire drew a recap of the whole session and Kevin a big happy dinosaur walking on the grass and through the flowers, reminding us all of the Happy Elephant he shared during Funky Chicken! Aryam created a rainbow so long that she, Ibraham and Mum and Dad could go for a stroll!
And we also saw some great artistic collaborations between Mums and children and between children too!
’Collaboration’ truly is a great word and we love what it means, working together to achieve something. And at Porridge & Play Castlemilk we sure know how to collaborate and play together to achieve a brilliant time with friends and family!
