Block 3 Week 4 Porridge & Play Bridgeton
Friday 26th August
Hello and welcome to the Licketyspit Bridgeton Celebration blog!
We had so much fun at the Calton Heritage & Learning Centre playing all kinds of games and rhymes, including 4 of our very *new games*. How fantastic! Everyone was so considerate of each other during all the games and it really felt like a family party with lots of sharing, lots of energy and lots of integration between families and guests!
We were had Ross the filmmaker and Eoin the photographer for our big celebration, as well as Ammar the interpreter, and later this year you’ll be able to watch the film about the project.
Alan led the Funky Chicken brilliantly, thoughtfully and inclusively choosing people to go next. Lexi did the Funky Pig today for the first time ever. Leeanne said she does it all the time at home, but today was the first time she did with all of us!
Kho Kho, shared by Tarika, Tanishk & Ridhi, was brilliant! We absolutely loved playing this game with all the families eagerly waiting for who had the paper hidden behind them, and cheering each other on.
William explained Chaos Tag really well, and we had so much fun running around as we were all it and all could be tagged, which was such a fun way to play. There was pure joyful chaos in the room!
We loved doing the chicken, the crocodile & the soup rhyme – A Porridge & Play Bridgeton Original! It also featured at the STORYPLAY FESTIVAL and was a big hit with our other Licketyspit pals – look out for that blog coming soon!
Leeanne told us all about Street Catch before we started the game, which we played with our ‘imaginary ball’. Everyone was so good at agreeing on who had the ball and working together to hide it from the person who threw it. We could honestly play all of these games for hours!
We also enjoyed drawing our designs for the AllScots Playcards, which we hope to release next year. With so many games, we cannot wait to see elements of your drawings come to life on the cards when they officially launch for yourself and future generations of Licketyspit families to play.
We have loved seeing everyone getting to know each other better and bonding throughout this project and we hope to be back in Bridgeton soon for more Storyplay with our east end friends!
