Letters to Margaret & Margaret – P1A & P1B

2020-01-31T17:22:17+00:00

21st October 2019 Primary 1a and Primary 1b were thrilled to get a letter from Margaret & Margaret last week. Since they went up the Mountain with the children, Margaret & Margaret have been off flying around the world in their balloon. High in the sky! In the letter, they said it was a bit cold in the balloon, but they had their cosy coats and a flask of hot carrot soup! They asked the children for ideas of where to go next...so the children wrote them letters back, with pictures and notes giving them suggestions! You can see some of them below and read what the children said. I wonder if Margaret & Margaret will write back...? P1a   "My dad and Margaret & Margaret and you in Santa land. Go to the city, go to school, go to my home and to Ruby's home. Love, M"   "I've drawn Margaret & Margaret. They're my best friends. Could go to the moon. A rainbow on the moon!" "The beach in Scotland outside Glasgow. You can go on a train. Can play with the sand and make sandcastles!"   "The jungle. A bird's left its nest. The eggs that will hatch and little birds jump out. Me and a tiger. It's a friendly tiger!"   "Go to a castle where a princess lives."   "A beach where [...]

LicketyLeap at St Mary’s – Group 5

2021-06-15T13:50:04+00:00

13th & 19th September 2019 The final LicketyLeap group (P1a) was the biggest yet (10 children) and you could tell there was already a buzz about Margaret and Margaret in the classroom! By the time we were with the Oogly Boogly Lady everyone had bought into the story, with M saying "She's gone into the mountain!" when Bold Margaret disappeared. They all told the Fishy Lady the colour of the fish they had caught on the Boat and K saw a rainbow bird in the trees on the Shore. J, D and K went to hide in the Cave and everyone called their name to make an echo. K suggested we pat the Bear and J suggested we could say sorry. M led the rest in patting and feeding the bear. They loved the Bird and M asked it if we could get a lift to the top of the Mountain. S stroked the Bird's face. P, S and T all helped Worried Market jump across! "That was the fish Margaret and that was the other fish Margaret and then they ate the fish. And there’s the rollerskates. Hands. I liked it when they were sliding down the hill. I was on the bird and I was literally flying and then I jumped off it. I wasn’t scared I jumped off and parachuted!" Child, Reflective Drawing In Session 2, [...]

LicketyLeap at St Mary’s – Group 4

2021-06-15T13:52:40+00:00

12th & 18th September 2019 St Marys Storyplay We had a lovely LicketyLeap with 9 children from Group 4 (P1a & P1b) and Miss Carty. They were particularly tickled by the Margaret & Margaret Peekaboo entrance. They loved the Oogly Boogly Lady's mini-worlds and were all actively involved. The children independently found lots of things under the Sea. On the Boat we had a lovely sleep - suggested by one of the children! On the Shore we saw crabs, seahorses and everyone was so focused on the burrow when the rabbits came out. T - "My bunny kissed me!" They loved finding their hats. L told Bold Margaret about the Bear and was very chatty. "He was scary and then scared!" T was the first confidently in their to pat the Bear. M asked the Bird for a lift up the mountain and M and F both enjoyed the fact that they "spoke Bird". A huge group of nearly all the children helped Bold Margaret jump to the Top. At the end, L explained what had happened to Worried Margaret exactly - "She was worried then she was brave!" "[I drew] the wind, the grass, the sky, the balloon, the snow all come down and the big rainfall and the river. At the end was my best bit." Child, Reflective Drawing In Session 2, we revisited the story and [...]

LicketyLeap at St Mary’s – Group 3

2021-06-15T13:49:20+00:00

12th & 18th September 2019 The third LicketyLeap group (P1b) couldn't wait to get stuck in and were falling over themselves to tell us what was going on in the postcards at the start. It was great to find out that some of their big brothers and sisters have shared the story of Margaret and Margaret at home! A and others immediately spotted the sound of the sea and did some really realistic swimming with Worried Margaret. On the Shore they climbed trees to get apples and bananas, saw seahorses in the rock pool and G found rabbits. O stuck his hand right into his pocket to get a pretend apple out to feed the rabbits - he saw a whole family! There was a real camaraderie about how everyone was playing together. P & G asked the Bird for a lift to the top and there was a great conversation about what had happened when we found Worried Margaret again. They were particularly thrilled with their postcards from M&M at the end. "This is the water. (We were there) when we were nearly finding our heart’s desire. (hd?) Playing with my toys with my friends. (fave) swimming in the sea and flying with the Bird. When we were trying to get help to get our heart’s desires the Bird said yes and we said thank you. (what about [...]

LicketyLeap at St Mary’s – Group 2

2021-06-15T13:52:18+00:00

11th & 17th September 2019 We had a fantastic LicketyLeap with 9 children in group 2 (P1b). Every child contributed in the conversation at the start, C was especially chatty! After our mudfight, M suggested we go into the Sea to wash it off. In the Sea, L showed Worried Margaret how to swim on her back and R saw a boat. Everyone loved finding and sharing treasure. On the boat, everyone relished trying each other's fish and M gave the Fishy Lady a hug goodbye. In the Cave we saw bats, and everyone boldly shouted their name to make an echo. When the Bear appeared, a couple of people were a bit nervous, but they overcame any fears and patted and hugged it! S articulately told Bold Margaret about the Bear. L asked the Bird for a lift and after we reached the top of the Mountain, other L suggested sliding down. In Session 2, we revisited the story and everyone remembered it brilliantly. We also talked about our Heart's Desires: S – Swimming in the sea L – Go to the beach R – Find a unicorn L – Find a puppy C – Playing cousin’s xbox and a hamster M – Have a bunny and play with him in my home and go to the beach L – A unicorn L – Go to the mountain [...]
