Find out all about our Picnic & Plays with the Bridgeton, Castlemilk and Cranhill Hubs! These blog posts show what we got up to and all the Storyplay-ing we did! Porridge & Play Hubs is running throughout 2022 with this block being the 2nd of our exciting New Scots Integration Project! Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us to provide such amazing experiences for our children & families, and to all our Storyplay Champions! We went to the Dream Machine in this blog! The Dream Machine was originally inspired by its founder Matthew Lygate's time living in a healing centre within the Amazonian jungle. There he stumbled onto the power of holistic community healing, music and sound therapy and traditional medicine. Years later at 257 London road Glasgow, the Dream Machine are using creative technologies to provide a unique space where anyone can leave their day-to-day reality at the door without traveling halfway around the world. The Dream Machine has many more voyages ahead and they'd love you to join! We had an incredibly busy Picnic & Play at the Dream Machine with 58 people in February 2020! It was so much fun to meet people from so many different backgrounds, just like we have at Porridge & Play Bridgeton! Read all about this adventure here!  Picnic & Play at [...]

Azalea with butter on her nose!  Melody with carrots on her nose! Flower with rolls in her nose! Jeff with sausages in his ears! Wendy with apple pit in her mouth! Nachos in someone’s eyes! Max with birthday cake in his mouth!....so many!  When everyone else arrived, we did BIG as a BEAR – which was BIG as there were 41 of us! We also played Funky Chicken and a raucous Grandma Grandma. Raucous means making or aiding in creating a really loud noise! Then we Dressed Up for our Magic Ball Adventure. Jainaba set up the Magic Ball for everyone. Picnic & Play at the Dream Machine

2020-03-09T11:25:45+00:00

29th Feb 2020 We had an incredibly busy Picnic & Play at the Dream Machine with 58 people!* However, it was wonderful to introduce so many new families to Lickety Play and have so many people from different backgrounds (over 5 different languages!) meeting and playing confidently and enthusiastically together. In Funky Chicken we met the Quacking Duck Duck, the Cheeky Cheetah,  the Meowing Cat and the Cheaty Minecraft! We saw princesses in towers, purple boats, football stadiums, cars, friends going to college and in the garden from our Flying Balloons and met Granny Ann and Granny Conor, Granny Harley, Granny Maddison and Granny Mohamed in their tree-houses, mansions and houses in the forest of Monster Trees! Hello My Name is Joe was excellent, with lots of laughter! All the food went down well, and we even managed to share a small plate of leftover fruit with The Space's cafe team and visitors. We know some people were a little disappointed not to go into the Dream room itself on Saturday. Unfortunately because of a shortage of staff at the venue, that wasn't possible this time, but there are lots of other free & pay what you can activities on at the Dream Machine! Do go and discover it another day and tell us what you think! Visit their website here or find them on Facebook here. *(Admittedly the room was a bit [...]

Big Porridge & Play Gorbals Week 5

2022-07-13T15:57:25+00:00

30th May 2019 Travelling from the St Francis Centre in several taxi’s, we all managed to avoid the wind and the rain arriving at the wonderful and exciting Dream Machine on the London Road! As we warmed up and danced like Funky Chicken’s we could tell we were in for a great session and we were not disappointed! There was a special birthday in the group this week so we all decided to bake a cake! There were lots of exciting ingredients - delicious melted chocolate, fresh strawberries and grapes as well as some more unusual and odd ingredients added like…. a pair of shoes, a beautiful pink dress and even a door! We all helped pour the mixture into a baking tin, open the oven door and pop in the cake to bake! With a loud beeeep! The cake was ready! We all decorated it and sang Happy Birthday to Alan! who turned 4! (Then we tasted the cake! Yumm!) After we had finished eating our cake we had some story time! Jack read a brilliant story called Cockatoos by Quentin Blake. This is the story of Professor Dupont and his wondering and hilarious Cockatoos who get fed up of the Professors morning routine one day and decide to run away! I wonder if we can all remember where the Cockatoos were hiding?! The story of the cockatoos [...]
