Storyplay is back at the Library!

2022-10-14T12:42:40+00:00

Wednesday 12th October 2022 Our first session at Whiteinch was super exciting with lots of new faces and a whole load of imaginative adventures.  We all played the Funky Chicken and learned some new animals too! We met: Eeman’s jumpy kangaroo Ellie’s silly cow Dàire’s T Rex Kouser’s Kangaroo and Kemjii’s lazy cow!  Flying Balloons We were having so much fun we thought it might also be good to go flying in the sky with our Balloons... We travelled across the whole world and ended up in the Antarctic where it was so chilly we needed extra jumpers. We actually saw a Fairyland cloud and a castle, a butterfly, ducks, an orange fish, a slide, a unicorn  and dinosaurs including a T Rex. A dragon breathed some fire on the ice castle (I think he was trying to warm us up!) and meanwhile, we found a place where they were giving out ice-creams! Hunter  really enjoyed his strawberry one and Virginia’s tasted of onion! Dressing up as Grannies! We opened up two big bags of fantastic Dressing Up clothes and we all got very excited. So many colours and styles to choose from! Once we dressed up, we changed into a variety of characters and I was lucky enough to interview many of them. So many delightful outfits and among them were Grace the ninja Kemjii who flew in [...]

Mohi saw his friend walking down his street and we all waved helloooo And Shams saw a train going to london bridge Grandma Grandma! Then Cami told us a story about her Grandma who could “wriggle like a fool!” This gave us an idea…we could dress up as grannies! So we did, using the old clothes, towels and other bits and bobs we always use to dress up at Licketyspit.  Then we met our new guests…Granny Shams came from Bukingham palace! Granny Gabi came from a castle… Granny Abeera came from Santa’s house where she liked to lounge [...]

It was the week of the Upside Down Trouser Dance!

2022-08-16T10:54:58+00:00

Welcome to the Big Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures! Friday 22nd July It was the week of the Upside Down Trouser Dance!  ‘I’m upside down Trouser Bob and welcome to my silent Disco! All you have to do is place a pair of trousers on your arms, upside down and away you go, DANCE!’ We danced and danced until we landed in the sea, lay on our backs to feel the breeze of Upside Down Trouser Land! Our bellies were full of cake after landing inside Esmerelda’s Cake World. We had to eat our way out and then bake more cake mixture for her to fill the holes with!  Grannies gathered from far and wide! Granny CeeCee from South America! Granny Umberella & Granny Sunglasses joined us from America having just been to a very relaxing musical concert!  Granny Lazy felt like doing nothing! Granny Swoon loved to Swim! All the grannies went into the green Magic Ball today and had a very marvellous time!  At Big Porridge & Play online, we always have the most wonderful time! I wonder where we might go next…! Storyplay Champions at Making Rights Real Event!

2022-08-19T16:23:59+00:00

Have Your Say Through Play is a children’s human rights-based, fun way to support children under-twelve to explore and share their thoughts, feelings and ideas through Lickety Playcard Play. This project was first developed with our Children & Families Network in September 2020, as a way to consult children about the Covid-19 pandemic. Everyone's Children invited us to join them and have our Storyplay Champions show just how have Have Your Say Through Play works! Tuesday 21st June We had a really fantastic time at the recent Making Rights Real Event online! Our Storyplay Champions led a fantastic 20 minute session where we demonstrated how we can ‘Have our SAY through PLAY!’  We went on a Magic Ball adventure to an underwater school! There we met Professor Seal (Taz) who told us that a new student was joining the school very soon and needed the children to come up with ideas for ways to make them feel welcome and happy, because children know what children need!  Professor Seal asked some questions…  What could we do to make a new student feel welcome at a new school?’ ‘They might need support and food. Maybe after school we could play with them or take them to the park, because we have the right to play and we could be their friends!’ - Fish Felicia  ‘We could sing them a [...]

Welcome to our Jelly Catwalk!!

2022-08-03T08:45:58+00:00

Welcome to the Big Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures! Friday 24th June The return of the Jelly Catwalk!!! To land on a cloud would be a fine thing, but to land on a jelly would be a dream. What if this Jelly tasted of strawberries? And when you bounced you landed in a giant Jelly Castle?! This is what happened for us in our Magic Ball! We were greeted by a confused pink-haired Jelly Queen, who was holding her event of the year… THE JELLY CATWALK. ‘Would you like to join?’ She asked in a high pitched, wobbly voice. ‘You must dress up as a Jelly character, walk the walk, and each time the music stops… POSE!’   ‘YES,’ we all cried. And our Jelly characters were invented. Adeelah had a snake balanced on her head! Stella had ice-cream in her ears! Zoha was the doughnut girl! Anaya had scrunchies on her eyes! We walked the walk and posed until we could pose no more. And it even turned out there was a world famous French model there who exclaimed that she had never seen such amazing posing in her whole life!! 😮 What an adventure! This week was a particularly inspired session of Big Porridge & Play Online. It was a world class demonstration of how much fun [...]

Awoo! The wolves of the Lickety Forest!

2022-06-30T13:39:18+00:00

Welcome to the Big Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures! Friday 10th June Awoo! This week was all about animals! We met Lindsey the Lion with a dressing gown on her head! (Felicia) Stronger the Bear, the strongest of them all! (Ameen) The fastest cheetah! (Stella) And the biggest and baddest of WOLVES!! Awoo! Being the only animal in the forest with a watch, the wolf is the most powerful of all. ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?' They all cry! ‘Time for my nap.’ He says with a sigh. So all of the animals heave into a sleep, until they’re awoken with a need to eat. ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?' They all roar! and wake Mr Wolf, with a snore, he shouts ‘12 o’ clock…… DINNER TIME!!!’ And all the animals leap to their homes, while the wolf snaps his jaws and grumbles and moans! Sarah said: ‘Wolf was my favourite game because it was fun!’ And Praise said: ‘I drawed the wolf shouting dinner time and everyone running away and when he said go to bed and go to school. Someone is crying because she missed the bus! They are holding sponges and things to clean the house.’ We also had a brilliant time playing MUCKY BREW! We covered ourselves in purple slime, apples, strawberries, flour, sunflower [...]
