Welcome to the Big Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures!
Saturday 21st October
Sometimes when you are reading a good story you almost feel like you are in it…
And sometimes, if you feel like it, you can ACTUALLY BE IN THE STORY…
BOOKPLAY does exactly that…
Choose a story, read it with all your pals and then simply jump INTO the story with your imagination…
This Saturday we did BOOKPLAY with two of our past Magic Ball adventures!
(For anyone who doesn’t know, Magic Ball is the Licketyspit game where we climb inside our Magic Ball to go somewhere unexpected and unexpected and often amazing things happen ! Afterwards we always write about what happened to put in our Blog!)
So we today we had a good read of two of our past Magic Ball adventures and then…
WHOOOOOOOOSH!!!!
We landed at the very, very long beach of our first story!!
The sea was so far away! We ran and ran and ran but we didn’t seem to get any closer to the shore… Luckily Victoria spotted a shortcut – ‘This way!’ she called.
Finally we reached the shore where Pemi used his wand to create boats for us all so we could row ourselves out to sea!
‘Rowing is a thirsty game!’
But Maryam had drinks for us all to keep our energy up.
Suddenly Muhammad cried – ‘My wand! My wand! It’s broken and the only way to mend it is by collecting all the repairing crystals but…I heard a big Octopus guards the crystals!”
We all decided we could deal with a guarding Octopus, so Muhammad used the bit of magic left in his wand to tele-transport us all to the very cave where the Octopus was!
‘That’s no Octopus!’
The guard of the crystals was in fact a Dragon, and a rather greedy one at that!
‘I don’t like sharing my crystals” said the dragon.”Why would I do that?’
‘But we really need the crystals!’ we said.’Oh, please!’
‘Play a game with me…….If you win, you may have them’ replied the dragon.
The game the Dragon proposed was like our game of Monsters Footsteps so we were very confident to play!
The tension was palpable in all of us.
We knew we needed to play with all our might and so we did – and we won!
And the Dragon gave us the most stunningly colourful crystal you could ever imagine!
The time had come for us all to squeeze through the portal for the next story WHOOOOSH!
Here we came upon Josh The Moth, Compere extraordinaire, who was busy explaining the rules for the ‘Ugly Bug Face Contest’!
We decided we should definitely all enter this contest!
Together we worked at pulling hideously-looking ugly faces with such gusto that we were all absolutely brilliant!
All apart from one wee Spider…oh it tried and tried but the spider was too handsome to make itself look ugly!
‘Fear not, we said, we’ll give you a lesson!
Here, try this’
‘And this!
Try this other face move!’
‘Now this one!
This is one is particularly ugly! Woo Hoo!’
After all this the Spider was still looking quite handsome and not that ugly at all, but it had tried so hard that it got a special medal for an ‘Ugly Bug Face In-Progress’.
Of course, all the Licketyspit Uglies got medals too and the appreciation from all the other bugs there for being so fabulously ugly!
After all that appreciation had been shared it was time for us ugly bugs to go home.
