Porridge & Play Online Week 3

Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund

Welcome to the Big Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures!

A magical cake, Chef Marigold and an onion tower!!

What fun and adventure we had in week three of Big Porridge and Play Online!

This week’s session was really run by our participants, who chose what we sang and what we played! We kicked off the session with the Funky Chicken, meeting Gabbie’s Dancing Hippo, Ruby’s Hopping Flamingo, Esther’s Howling Dog, Victoria’s Fighting Tiger, Goodness’s Climbing Lion and Andre’s Silly Dodo!

We all dressed up as chef’s for Let’s Bake a Cake and met Chef Bamboo who was in an absolute flap because she’d been tasked with baking a cake for the King!! Luckily we had the world’s most superb chefs in town to help save the day, and what INSPIRED ingredients went into that cake!!

Chef Big Ears (Ruby) added chocolate covered broccoli!

Cook Onion (Esther) threw in some gummy flavoured onions which were very sweet and fluffy and tasted like a cloud!

Granny Cook (Goodness), who had 450 grandchildren, added icing and chocolate!

Cakey Chef had travelled from Cake Land and chopped up some potato flavoured strawberries!

Chef Marigold (Gabbie) added marshmallows!

Chef Magical brought her puppet bowl to mix up her strawberry ice-cream!

Chef Weird Things (Andre) added a chair!!

What a cake it was! But we’d hardly had a moment to admire it before we all started feeling rather weird… the next thing we knew the cake was lifting us high into the sky! We flew over the world and fed a great big giraffe down below. Suddenly we landed on a tree filled with magical marshmallows. The marshmallows transported us to the top of an Onion Tower! The tower was made up of layers and layers of all things Onion… onion bowls, onion cups, onion toys and onion plates, with a great big onion elevator running right through the middle! Alas, there was a big problem, Mrs Onion appeared in a terrible state to tell us that the tower was about to be chopped down! Luckily Chef Onion could translate Onion language so we all came up with a plan… Chef Magical used a magical spell to inflate our cake, forming a shield around the tower… it worked, we saved the day!!

What a brilliant adventure, check out our reflective drawings below! See you next Saturday for the final session of Big Porridge & Play Online for this block.

Love,

We almost always do ‘Reflective drawing’ at the end of a Storyplay session. It’s nice to relax and draw & think about what we’ve all done & how we feel about it.

Reflective drawing isn’t about doing a ‘good’ drawing – it’s about drawing whatever comes into your head when you think about what you’ve just done.

But as you draw you realise more about what you thought or imagined in the session. And it’s great to share that with everyone & hear what they thought! So many things go on in Storyplay!

Here are our Reflective Drawings from this week!
