From Bridgeton to London and back!!
What a lovely day! Thanks again to everyone who came – it was so much fun!
First we wrote lots of letters to our Loves – which we dropped! And of course, someone must have picked them up and put them in their pocket! We had to guess who had the letter every time!
Zainah & Arafa sent letters to their mums and Malak sent one to her Dad. Mohammed sent a letter to his mum which said ‘paper!’ It must’ve been a reminder for him?!! Yaseen wrote a Love Letter to herself and Ahyan sent one to a bird! Finally, Leeane GOT a letter from her Guardian Angel. The letter said that her Guardian Angel is sending love to everyone! How nice! Thank you to Leeanne’s Guardian Angel!!
After all the Love Letters and coming and going and guessing we met some funky characters! We met Delicious who loves to wear green, who lives in a tree with her son who also loves wearing green!! I can’t blame them, green is such a lovely colour. We also met Princess Zainah who lives in a castle. Her speciality is rainbow make-up – so cool!!
While we were meeting these funky characters, Ahyan produced a yellow Magic Ball which took us all the way to London! In London, we met a man selling tickets. We found him very hard to understand. Luckily, Ahyan could understand him so he bought everyone a ticket for the London Eye. What a view we had! The city was so beautiful from the top even if the pod was a little shaky!
We decided to go for a swim in the River Thames – the huge river that runs right through the middle of London! There were lots of boats and some amazing sea creatures, fish, jellyfish and even a megalodon! When we saw the megalodon, we all pretended to be seaweed so it didn’t try to eat us! Just as we thought we were safe a giant child-eating Loch Ness Monster arrived! It was very scary! But we stayed calm and pretended to be seaweed – works every time!! I wonder why the Loch Ness monster travelled all the way to London? Maybe she was sightseeing!
After all that excitement, we met a bubbly mermaid! She was so nice to everyone and we all swam together. We swam for what felt like hours. Then the mermaid stopped being bubbly and started to cry! We asked her what’s wrong but she couldn’t tell us. All she did was cry and rub her belly. We realised of course that she must be hungry! So, we fed her some seaweed. Don’t worry, we didn’t pretend to be seaweed this time!!
The bubbly mermaid loved her seaweed and it gave her a new blast of energy and bubbles!! She swam into the distance as we waved goodbye! Suddenly, it was getting dark. We needed a way to get home! Mmmmm… Luckily we found a door in the water, so we opened it and swam inside and it took us all the way back to Bridgeton! How handy to find a magic door just when you need it!
When we got back we had Steven’s lovely leek and lentil soup together and lots of delicious fruit. You can see our Reflective Drawings below the blog in the Lickety Gallery!
Looking forward to seeing you all again this Friday! Woo Hoo!
Lots of love,
Steven, Andre & Cami
We almost always do ‘Reflective drawing’ at the end of a Storyplay session. It’s nice to relax and draw & think about what we’ve all done & how we feel about it.
Reflective drawing isn’t about doing a ‘good’ drawing – it’s about drawing whatever comes into your head when you think about what you’ve just done.
But as you draw you realise more about what you thought or imagined in the session. And it’s great to share that with everyone & hear what they thought! So many things go on in Storyplay!
Here are our Reflective Drawings from this week! Below is some of what we said!
