Porridge & Play Online Week 2!!

We had a fabulous Porridge & Play Online session this bank holiday weekend with highlights including a book hunt through the multiverse and ice cream with the Penguin Queen!

This week we had a visit from Ruby who was delighted to be invited back into the rich imaginary worlds of Adeelah, Victoria, Gabby, Ope, Fiire, Pemi, Desire, Timi, Nusaibah, Nabilah, Aisha, Khadija, Khadar, Yayhe and Ibrahim!

It was wonderful to see everyone responding to each other’s animals in the Funky Chicken. We met lots of hilarious creatures like the Dancing Hippo, the Mischievous Fox, the Falling Chick and the Laughing Crocodile!

Even better was when we dressed up and met our own cast of cool characters…✨

☁️ Magical babysitters who live high in the sky!

“We have long arms to reach down & scoop up the babies. We play so many games and we rhyme & sing!”

“When I was a little kid I dreamed to be a babysitter! My mum wouldn’t let me. But I managed to escape into the forest and I found the child-carers and they took me home”

👸🏿Princess Marigold who lives in a castle by a lake

“I live with my friends. We have picnics with cakes, cookies and even healthy stuff!”

🚣🏽‍♂️ Earth Witch who comes from the river

“I live in a boat – it’s orange, black & white. I cook pasta with tomato sauce”

📚TieDye who comes from the Land of Books!

“I live in a paper shoe – made from David Walliams’ ‘ The World’s Worst Child!’

TieDye told us, “Things have been going really bad here. It’s been raining so all the books have been getting wet! We need more people to make more books!”

Also joining us were:

🔦Wonder Kid who lives in an underground bunker.

“I have lots of good food! I basically go to explore outside. I bring Magic Pencils to tell me where to go to find exotic things! Different animals, different colours. Like an elephant can be pink with yellow horns!”

Wonder Kid gave us torches and drew a secret path to help us get out of the cave…

🏴‍☠️Pirate John Flynn!

“I lost a hand 5 years ago so I’ve got a metal hand! I was trying to kill a dragon when it snipped off my hand! And I also tried to kill the Cracken!!!”

🦀Crablania

“I can snip anybody off with my snippers! And I can also do karate, so don’t try me! Give me ice cream every day!”

💰Trader Andy

“I’m from the biiiig city of Traderland. We sell all kinds of trinkets. Like this pillow. You want it? Very good! And this metal, very vintage. So what would you like to buy?? You can get a 10% discount just because you guys have a very nice conversation 😀”

🧚🏿Fairy Nanny

“I live up in heaven. I cook food and I wash dishes. I clean up the floor & a little bit of dust! I sprinkle magic dust. It’s very delicate. It’s so magical, if I put too much, the whole heaven will explode!”

Trader Andy sold Ruby some vintage metal which turned into a book as it passed through the dimensions. Tie Dye from the land of books read it to us, even though it was written in Latin!

“So the book says, don’t be afraid because the sun is here so Crablania’s ice cream will melt so now she will be angry. But to get more ice cream that won’t melt in the sun, you have to get one of the special ice creams from the Freezer of Penguins. They like to dance so play them your favourite song and they’ll get you the ice cream!”

And off we went, to find the Queen of Penguins! To share ice creams and then travel through the multiverse in search of adventure books to rebuild Book World. What an amazing day. I can’t wait to see what happens next week at Porridge & Play Online!
