Week one Porridge & Play at Whiteinch Library!
Porridge & Play Whiteinch Week 6
Flying Balloons & a Great Granny Convention!
Wednesday 18th October 2023
Have you been to the beautiful Whiteinch Library?
It is a lovely building, cozy and warm with lovely librarians who are most helpful and welcoming!
Aren’t we lucky to have libraries – such fantastic places to visit to read or borrow books, meet friends, discover and explore stories, knowledge and mysteries but also to have Storyplay with us?
So this week we met Whiteinch pals old and new at Whiteinch Library for our first Storyplay of the Autumn!
We danced and warmed up, played Funky Chicken, flew high up in the sky on our very own Flying Balloons to explore Glasgow and the world and we dressed up as Whiteinch Grannies attending a Granny Convention!
Taz was Ninja Granny and lived in an old shoe, Nina was a Granny who lived in a chocolate house, watches TV and likes to dance! Freddy was Fairy Granny who lives in a big, big, big, big blue shoe and invites friends over to play power rangers. She watches TV and her fave food is chocolate. Carmen was Granny Susan who constantly has cold hands! She lives in the North Pole also in an open plan shoe with her seal, Zofia was Granny Sweet who lived in a hut in Candyland and has a sweetie bunny pet. She lives in a house made of gumdrops and she runs a Sweet Bakery – and she gave out some of her treats! Frankie was Granny Skater who lives in a Skate Park and of course her favourite thing is to skate around! She even showed us one of her skating tricks!. Kevin became CandyStore Batman Granny who dances to the TV tune of Batman and lives in a big big house that is a shoe. She is friends with Batman and she knocks bad people out with shoes! And Cami was Granny Frank who lives in a helicopter and came to the Granny Convention to teach us all a song called Grandma,Grandma!
Of course we had our delicious meal together chatting and getting to know each other and our Licketyspit Art Gallery was full of colour, laughter and incredible artists!
What a great first week at Whiteinch Library!
I wonder what next week’s Storyplay adventures may be…can’t wait!

Some of your reflective drawings and what you said about them.
What you said
I drew the Funky chicken, ice creams from the ice-cream dragon and all the flavours. This is me with my balloon. My favourite thing today was Funky Chicken.
This is the griddy squirrel and this is the big skate park where granny skater lived. A random person and me as Granny skater.
A pirate ship.Captain Freddy is going to the North Pole looking for Polar Bears. I’m going to hide and bring the Polar Bears to Glasgow. I am Granny Fairy.
This is skate-boards in all the colours
A rainbow and I put my name up there. You need to dig a hole to find the rainbow.
This is my house in the North Pole. It’s just like open plan living. I live by myself with my seal. We just slide about and I ride the seal. Liked learning the Granny song and liked dressing up as a granny when she was young.
