We’ve arrived at the PI!
Porridge & Play Govan Week 1
Tuesday 11th October 2022
We had a fantastic time at the first Porridge & Play Govan!
We got warmed up with a boogie and then Hilde invited us to make ourselves as Big as a Bear! And as Fast as a Hare! As Strong as an Ox and as Sneaky as a Fox!
Once we were all warmed up, Marie Louise introduced us to the Funky Chicken…
He was soon joined by the Silly Tiger, Ameen’s Speedy Hare, Bimbo’s Funky Roaring Lion, Gosia’s Singing Coyote and Dami’s Funky Dog, and many more!
Flying Balloons!
It was soon time to go high into the sky in our Flying Balloons!
Gabi saw a train going to the zoo…
We saw multicoloured butterflies and Mohamad saw a silver and purple dragon crab, wow!
Mohi saw his friend walking down his street and we all waved helloooo
And Shams saw a train going to london bridge
Grandma Grandma!
Then Cami told us a story about her Grandma who could “wriggle like a fool!”
This gave us an idea…we could dress up as grannies! So we did, using the old clothes, towels and other bits and bobs we always use to dress up at Licketyspit.
Then we met our new guests…Granny Shams came from Bukingham palace! Granny Gabi came from a castle… Granny Abeera came from Santa’s house where she liked to lounge on the sofa while the elves did all the hard work! And Granny Minal grew lots of flowers in her house.
I wonder who we’ll meet next week?
See you then!

Some of your reflective drawings and what you said about them.
What you said
I drew me flying with the balloon. I saw a crab dragon -orange and purple! And a bird. Felt good!
It’s me holding onto the ballon pink with purple stripes. Sky and clouds and sun. I saw Egypt.
I enjoy it because the activities were fun. The food was awesome.
This is me eating bread and jam (today). That’s my house me and my mummy did it. I like my house.
I liked the one when you have to show your pictures and i like going in a circle and dress up.
A balloon and a jelly fish (wibble wobble action!)
I loved art gallery, dressing up and grandma grandma
It was really really fun!
About the project
Porridge & Play Govan is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund as part of Big Porridge & Play Glasgow.
Licketyspit has run Porridge & Play in many other communities around Glasgow, and started doing online sessions for Govan families in 2020, when the pandemic delayed our launch at the PI. We have also worked at Riverside Primary and we are delighted to finally be running family sessions in person!
You can find more information on Licketyspit here.
